First Blog Post and My Journey

Hello everyone! My name is Marijan, but everyone calls me Mika. I’m super excited to kick off this blog. It’s been on my mind for a while, and I’m finally ready to share my thoughts, experiences, and ideas with everyone.

Why This Blog?

I’ve spent years working as a technical consultant, solution architect, and project manager for different kinds of business software. It has been a rewarding journey, but recently I started thinking about the bigger picture.

I have always been fascinated by how technology and data are transforming our world. Large amounts of data can be converted into a powerful tool for solving different kinds of problems and making smart data-driven decisions. That’s why I decided to learn new skills like data analysis and AI and combine them with my current knowledge about technology, software, business processes, and business in general.

What You’ll Find Here?

This blog will be my way of sharing my journey as I incorporate data analysis, business analysis, and AI into my skill set. I will document everything – new things that I learn, the latest challenges, the mistakes I make (there will probably be many), and how I am applying new skills in real projects.

Business Software and Processes:

Since there are countless ways to improve businesses using proper tools and procedures, I’ll be writing about how businesses can make the most of their business software, and how to streamline business processes for better efficiency.

Data Analysis:

I will start with what I already know: Excel, SQL, and Power BI. But this time, I will dive deeper into advanced formulas and queries, pivot tables, automation techniques, and database performance. Mastering these will allow me to get large amounts of data quickly, manipulate/transform/clean the data, and build some cool reports.

AI & Prompt Engineering:

AI has already become a huge deal in all the industries. I plan to explore how it can help me become more productive, make fewer mistakes, generate ideas, analyze data, etc.

Deep Work & Productivity:

I am really a big fan of deep work. We currently live in a world full of distractions and it’s really hard to focus on specific tasks when everyone around you has countless ways to contact you and interrupt your work. Being able to focus is a very valuable skill, especially when you learn something new or work on complex tasks and projects. After many years, I have started applying deep work principles to get more done and avoid burnout, so I will share my experience with you.
